What is up? Welcome into your daily Buckeye Blitz for January 23rd, your Monday. Oh, new moon on Monday, is it? No, anyway, wow, January 23rd, 2023. 23 in there, oh.

Hope you guys joined us last night for the YouTube live. We’re talking the latest Buckeye news, recruiting, banging on Michigan as we like to do. As always, we appreciate you.

Tired? Oh, it was a late one anyway. Today, if it’s a Monday on The Daily Buckeye Blitz, you know we’re talking recruiting. We’re going to talk about visitors for this past weekend that attended the Ohio State-Iowa basketball game, and we’re going to talk about some offers that have gone out and update you on a few recruits that Buckeyes are in heavy on. So let’s kick it off.

Visitors, visitors this weekend. O lineman Ian Moore, current commit, athlete we’ll call him, safety/linebacker Garrett Stover commit. The Armstrong twins, Deonte and Devonte, just recently picked up offers from the Buckeyes. They were visiting, Reggie Powers, Jamir Scott, Dorian Brew, Ryan Montgomery, so list of guys. Bryce West was going to attend, but he had a track meet, so in the corner from Cleveland Glenville, we had an official visit last week, on a week ago today, from running back Jordan Marshall.

This week we heard from Georgia four-star linebacker, this is all 2024, Sammy Brown. Nation’s top inside linebacker from Georgia. His quote was, “Right now, I’m focused on Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Clemson. So those are his six schools. Surprising that Alabama’s not in there, but we get a quote about Ohio State. Said they’re another college football team with a great culture. Coach Day, he’s done a great job. Coach Jim Knowles is one of the best linebacker coaches out there. Coach Knowles is an old-timey coach. Coaches now got sneakers and sweatpants on. He has blue jeans, a nice shirt, and loafers on, nice shoes. He’s nice, but he will get on your butt if needed. Close. He also said that I’d like I’d say that I probably commit in early July after I take all of my official visits. So sounds like in the next six months, he’s going to be busy taking his visits and then making a decision so once we get it out of the way before his senior year of high school football.

Another offer went out last week. Buckeyes offer current Alabama commit for 2024 quarterback, Julian saying, 6-1, 180. Quarterbacks Coach Corey Dennis visited him in Carlsbad, California. He’s the number two ranked quarterback in the country, committed to Alabama back in early November. He’s also interested in Georgia, of course. He said, “Bama’s program is an elite option for quarterbacks. Ohio State is one of the elite programs with the level of quarterback play that they bring in and showcase on Saturdays.” So very interesting that one thing you should know about his recruitment.

So, Alabama brought in two quarterbacks, two four-stars in this 2023 class. So, you’ve got that negative recruiting you can use against them by saying things like, “You know you’re going into a loaded room. We just brought in one guy in 2023. You know you got uh two guys in the class ahead of you, and then not to mention what’s going to come behind you. You know they’re going to bring in at least one in the 25 class, so it’s a dicey situation for Alabama. I wouldn’t be surprised if he flips, not necessarily to Ohio State, but I think if you’re a quarterback in the 2024 class, why would you go into a loaded room that has two quarterbacks in the class right ahead of you? Seems like you’re kind of putting yourself even further behind the eight ball, you know?”

Another offer, Coach J was out in Chicago. Chicago Marquis, Marquis Lightfoot, was offered on Tuesday. Parker Fleming was also with him. He recruits the Chicago area for Ohio State. Lightfoot, 6-4, 225 Edge rusher from Kenwood High School, number eight ranked weak side DN in the country. He had a quick quote here: “You said coach Larry and the other members of the staff been in contact with me for about a month. This offer means that my hard work is starting to pay off. It only motivates me to go harder, so I would expect a visit here in early spring.” So, get him on campus obviously, and it’s drivable, that helps. Another offer, Zambian Brown. He is a four-star corner from modern-day, that’s California, checks in at 6’1, 160. So, he’s got some length to him, as I like to say. Number 10 ranked player in the state of California and number 10 ranked corner in the class. So, would love to get some of that action.

And just update you on the running backs. So, Ohio State has now offered seven running backs in the 2025 class: Alvin Henderson, Harlem Berry, Jordan Davidson, Gideon Davidson, Byron Lewis, and Bo Jackson. Bo Jackson, yeah, Bo Jackson, not related. So, that’s interesting to me that they’re starting to really hit these 24 and 25 running backs pretty heavy. Coach Alford is so, yeah, for you today.

Oh quick update. The birthday tree, formerly the Christmas tree, is still standing, looking good. Not too many needles on the ground, keeping it watered. Lights are still on it, star is still at the top. Fortunately, those LED lights don’t get very hot, so yeah, looks good though, birthday tree still standing. A couple more weeks to go, I’ll keep you updated. Talk to you guys later, Go Bucks.
